Censuses
United States
- U.S. Censuses: For a fee you can obtain ALL of the census images from 1790-1940. Also, they have tons of other stuff!
- Census Online: A free site which is indexing the U.S. censuses for 1790-1930. As it is a volunteer system more censuses are done than others. Still a lot of work to be done.
- USGenWeb Census: Similar to Census Online and also not complete but it's free.
- 1790-1940 U.S. Census: The originals can be obtained by searching through FamilySearch. There are many other databases at this site. It's really a gem if you don't want to pay. Plus, I think it's easier to use.
Canada
- 1831 Lower Canada, Kamouraska County:
- 1837 Special Maine Census: Basically covers the newer settled parts of Maine including Aroostook, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford, Penobscot, Somerset, Washington, and Waldo Counties.
- 1852 Canada Census: Actually the 1851 census but not carried out until 1852. This is a work-in-progress indexing done by volunteers.
- 1851, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, 1911, Canada Census: The listings (not the orginals) can be obtained by searching through FamilySearch.
- 1901 Canada Census: This indexing done by volunteers is 100% done. Also access to originals.
- 1911 Canada Census: This indexing done by volunteers is 100% done. Also access to originals.
Other
- Every Ten Years: A site at Genealogy.com which tells you what's in each U.S. Census.
